Kampong Thom on National Highway No.64.

Sambor Prei Kuk is a former capital and was previously named Isan Borak and once a capital of Chenla between 7th and 8th century in pre-Angkorean period. A religious center dedicated to Shiva, Sambor Prei Kuk temple is made of solid brick and some laterite stone and is decorated with sculptures. The artistic front of Sar Sor Pich (Diamond pillar) and the door frames are made of sandstone. This temple was abandoned in 1971 and restored in 1980. A further 140 sites has been found in the forest nearby and two other known temples have yet to be discovered. They are not big but unique in it's style of lintel (Sambor Prei Kuk style), relief on the wall of the temples (flying palace) and octagonal plan.

Comment :There is a town which is called to the west of west Baray. The small ruins which scatters to the north was visited.

There are ruins of the quantity of the extent which it is possible to say that near this and furthermore on west and it is countless on north. Each ruins and state is bad, when the building has disappeared completely it is, but as for the ring moat is many a thing which almost leaves prototype.

The ring moat in order to be utilized, as the paddy field is thought that ruins visit itself becomes difficult in rainy season.

Comment : The court which is Angkor Thom is the place where successive king lives. Lap as for the wall of the laterite which has the height of 5 meters east west 585 meters and north and south 246 meters. The two-storied gate east, several ponds, temple Phimeanakas for the king, several small-scale leaving behind structures remain to that. The court itself was the woodwork to seem, presently it does not remain.

Comment : South of Angkor Thom, in the place where it enters from the road a little, there was a small leaving behind structure of the brick. It is found that the hand of restoration enters. It probably is the restoration by France. At one time in order to surround the hill of Angkor Thom which is the big center, it is seen that there were many small temples, but, this is probably the one of that.

Comment : Go through north gate of Angkor Thom, then take the dirt road to the west. After 15 minutes and you will find the top of the ruin beyond the forest. the ruin is surrounded by the dried moat and atmosphere is very quiet. This ruins is said that at one of the institute which was made by Jayavarman VII, it is the worshipping hall which belongs to that.
