Tep Pranam

Tep Pranam

Constructed : 9th century
Religion : Buddhist
Style : Mixed
King : Yasovarman I ★ 889 - 910 ★
Location : Angkor Thom, behind the Terrace of Leper King.

Comment : Here is a beautiful example of a building which will have evolved during centuries and of the builders. The first Buddha would have been built by Yasovarman 1st during the construction of first Angkor. But the beautiful stone alley which leads to this Buddha him would be posterior, as well as the statues which decorate this alley.

Today, the statue of the Buddha is covered with a contemporary construction which is not better effect, but one will like nevertheless to press foot these flagstones which have to see passing so much from world, anonymities, noble or Kings!

Temple Detail : Tep Pranam is the ruins where the court is located septentrional. You can see the lion image on both sides of the going/participating road whose width is wide.

Constructed : Late 12th century
Religion: Mahayana Buddhism
Style : Bayon
King : Jayavarman VII ★ 1181 - 1218 ★
Location : On the large circuit, in the north of the baray Eastern.

Comment : This small temple is presented in the form of a one Ta Prohm in miniature. Some sculptures are in good condition, but especially, the tree which pushed on East Gopura is to be seen absolutely. The roots block the passage partially, surround the door some cross the walls, others support them! One moment of calms and traditional for the photographes!

Temple Detail : Buddhist temple dedicated to the memory of the Kings's ancestors, the Ta Som temple is especially known by its towers with faces. As Ta Prohm, it is partially invaded by the jungle. Road side (west side) the small tower gate which has the human surface (it is on the peripheral wall) to be, here entering, when it keeps advancing, exceeding at one time the ring moat mark, it reaches to the west tower gate of the inside perimeter wall.

Furthermore that is a corridor first, on the center is a central hall. Walking around the corridor generally, seeing, it means to walk. It is the ruins which atmosphere is good and does cosily. Furthermore when you walk through the forest to east, there is an east tower gate of the peripheral wall. The wood the slag has been attached on top of the east tower gate. Around is the forest, promenade near feeling is good. The sunbeam very is clean in the day when weather is good.

Religion: Buddhism
Style : Bayon
King : Jayavarman VII ★ 1181 - 1218 ★
Location : At 200 meters only and almost opposite the principal entry of Angkor Wat, a little more in north. You can go there walking from Angkor Wat.

Comment : Few people approach this small ruin of which there does not remain large-thing and it is a shame, it is full with charm. This small temple was the vault of one of the 102 hospitals built by Jayavarman VII. Inscriptions teach us that it is related to the legend of the paralysed beggar who was cured at this place and flew away by overlapping the horse of Indra.

Ta Prohm

Ta Prohm

Constructed : Late 12th/Early 13th century - 1186
Religion: Buddhism
Style : Bayon
King : Jayavarman VII ★ 1181 - 1218 ★
Location : On the large circuit, just beside Banteay Kdei. East of Angkor Thom.

Comment : This temple is certainly one of most impressive, if not most impressive of all the temples of the site of Angkor . It was to be in its time a gigantic monastic city and when you enter by the Est gate, while moving through this splendid forest towards the temple itself, it is necessary to imagine that you cross an active city of many people where houses, made light materials entirely disappeared with Time. Inscriptions indicate that 80.000 people worked at the service of this monastery and inter alias the monks used 5 tons of gold plate! Ta Phrom forms part of the last generation of Angkorian temples, on only one level, surrounded by many galleries. You will be immediately impressed by the number, the size and the quality of the still intact galleries.

The others are only fall and heap of stones. The French School of Extreme Orient, which is at the base of many work of restoration of Angkor, would have voluntarily left this temple in this state of decay, where nature continues its work destroying in order to give to the visitor this very special impression to discover a wild place. The EFEO is as justified by saying as there exists on the site of Angkor many other examples of this kind of architecture, like Banteay Srey or the very close Banteay Kdei, but also releases itself from an enormous task, it is enough for persuaded to look at the numbers of stones scattered on the ground. In addition, the roots which surround the walls and invade certain galleries are a true treat for the eyes and the photographers! Set up five years after the arrival on the throne of Jayavarman VII, Ta Phrom is dedicated to his mother, and is formed part of the temples dedicated to the divinized parents. It will build later Preah Khan in the honor of his father. To be visited absolutely.

The Buddhism temple ruins like one city that inside the immense site which east west 1000 meter north and south 600 meters. There is a mark of the ring moat which surrounds the third lap wall on left and right. The next second lap wall does with the laterite. Inside having become the corridor, the roof of the sandstone is riding. As for the banyan tree with the very much high trees and shrubs, there is no branch excluding the part of the canopy. The key also voice of the bird which calls sharply has emphasized strange atmosphere.
